AUSTIN -- If you're flying out of Austin over the next few days, you may want to give yourself some extra time at the airport. Thousands are headed into Austin for the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix.
The largest number of race fans are expected to arrive Wednesday and Thursday, according to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The busiest times will likely be between 10-11 a.m., 1-2 p.m. and 4-5 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.
Airport staff says they are prepared to handle the extra traffic. Extra customer service representatives are stationed on the concourse as well as in the baggage claim area.
If you don't frequent the airport, staff says there are several things race fans need to know about. There's a free cell phone parking lot for picking up arriving passengers as well as construction in and around the terminal, parking, and airport roads.
Fans say they are pleased with the warm reception and information available in the terminal.

Travelers may run into some issues after the race on Sunday and Monday when thousands of people will head back home. The airport will add an alternative car rental return as well as special live music send offs. A total of eight shows will provide some extra entertainment.
ABIA is asking people leaving on Sunday and Monday to arrive at least two hours before departure times for all flights. Go here to check flight times.
