I've tried it all; from the evenings to the mornings on weekends and weekdays with KVUE News since the Fall of 2007. Being a morning person by nature, Daybreak called my name.
Monday through Friday you'll catch me around town reporting for Daybreak and Midday. In Fall of 2010, I began anchoring KVUE News Daybreak at 4:30am.
I consider myself lucky to share my journey and experiences with Austin. I've watched rescue crews save a group of hikers lost in a cave, stood up against hurricanes and hail and watched firefighters battle the blaze at the Governor's Mansion. That story earned me an Emmy nomination.
I came to Austin from the anchor desk of KAVU in Victoria, Texas. Raised in Houston and a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Houston (Go Coogs!), I wanted to keep my Texas roots firm.
In my spare time you'll find me with my husband, Jimmy, and our adorable dog running about town. I love getting involved in our community and enjoying all it has to offer. Austin is perfect because it gives you a sense of city life and you're still just miles away from the charming hillsides.
If you see me around town, please say 'Hi,' or you can always reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also follow me on Twitter at JessicaV_KVUE.
