UT women's hoops: #6 ranking

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas women’s basketball team is ranked sixth in the preseason USA Today Sports NCAA Division I Top-25 Coaches Poll, it was announced Thursday.

The Longhorns are tied for sixth with Ohio State in the preseason Coaches Poll. The USA Today Sports Board of Coaches is made up of 32 head coaches at Division I institutions. All are members of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

Eight of Texas’ 2016-17 opponents are ranked among the top-25 in the USA Today preseason Coaches Poll, including three of the nation’s top four teams and six of the top-12.

Texas finished its 2015-16 campaign with a 31-5 overall record, marking the squad’s most wins since the 1987-88 season, and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight.

Texas begins its 2016-17 season on Nov. 14, when it travels to Palo Alto, Calif., to face Stanford at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
