SAN ANTONIO -- The Longhorns showed signs of defensive improvement in the first half of the Alamo Bowl against Oregon State Saturday, but struggled to stop the run.

Offensively Texas abandoned the run game which struggled against the Beavers in the first half. That paid dividends. Quarterback David Ash beat Oregon State with his feet and arm.

Defensively the Longhorns shattered an Alamo Bowl record with 10-sacks. Senior Alex Okafor ended up with 4.5 sacks in UT's 31-27 win. The Longhorns finished the season 9-4.
