Mack Brown says a bye week is a great time to heal... receivers John Chiles and Mike Davis are probable against Nebraska... the Huskers are favored by about 8.5 points by the odds makers... but receiver James Kirkendoll says he and the Horns "don't feel like underdogs"... Garrett Gilbert says the Horns are "confident in themselves"... this is only the fifth time in Mack Brown's tenure at Texas that the Horns have lost two games in a row... in three of those other seasons, the Horns played teams that didn't have winning records in that third game (Rice in '98, Iowa in '06, and Iowa State in '07) and avoided three game losing streaks... when they played a team with a winning record in the '99 season (Arkansas in the 2000 Cotton Bowl) the Longhorns lost... that's their only three game losing streak under Mack Brown...

Mack Brown compares Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez to Vince Young because of his speed and option abilities... Blake Gideon says the defense has to play disciplined against Martinez and the Nebraska offense... but Aaron Williams says there's "no pressure" on the team...

The Longhorns are 7-1 against Nebraska since the Big-12 was formed in 1996, but of those seven wins, most have been very close games... that includes last year's Big 12 Championship game, when Nebraska stormed the field after thinking they had won, only to have one second put back on the clock and Texas getting a game winning field goal...

This is the end of a four game stretch for Texas (Texas Tech, UCLA, Oklahoma, Nebraska) that Mack Brown compares to the stretch in 2008 when Texas played Oklahoma, Missouri, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech. Texas finished that stretch with a 3-1 record...

Should Texas lose to Nebraska it would be the earliest Mack Brown has had a team lose its third game of the year since 1995 at North Carolina... he says "the pain of losing stays with you"... and blames the current losing streak to not playing a complete game well, saying "we haven't played together as a team for a complete game."

Mack Brown's Longhorns are 12-0 after Oklahoma games through the years. #13 kicks off at 2:30 Saturday on KVUE.
