The Longhorns are 20-5 following regular season bye weeks in the Mack Brown era.  One of the five defeats came at the hands of TCU in 2012.

Because of the off week, Mack Brown says the players probably got to enjoy the upset win over Oklahoma longer than usual.

TCU and Texas play for the 84th time on Saturday, with the Horns having a 29-9 record in Ft Worth.

David Ash is back with the team but not practicing.  He wants to play again this season but has to be cleared by doctors.  If he is cleared to play it will eliminate the possibility of taking a medical redshirt.

Mack Brown is enjoying a three game winning streak and says winning is really all that matters to most people.  They like graduation rates and staying out of trouble are important, but “most people just want you to win.”

He says “it’s not worth playing or coaching if you’re going to stink and lose.”

Mack Brown calls TCU coach Gary Patterson a “defensive genius”.

Case McCoy is now 5-4 in 9 career starts with the Longhorns.  He says his Mom is very supportive but says most everybody else is not impressed with him.  “I am who I am, you’re going to get what you’re going to get,” he says.

The UT defense has improved since the loss to Ole Miss but is still #114 in the county in rushing defense and #90 in total defense.

The Longhorns are in the top twenty in only two categories: punt returns and fewest turnovers lost.

The Horns have scored nine times this year on plays 45 yards or longer.
