Mack Brown talked to his team for an hour on Sunday about handling the disappointment of the Red River Rivalry. The Horns are 4-2 after the OU game, the same as they were in 2011 after six games. Mack says he told them they can lose more, like they did last year, or they can win the last six to win 10 games.
Mack Brown has looked at the game tape several times and still say the loss to Oklahoma was “bad and unacceptable”.
He says this is a time when you find out who your true friends are.
Mack did not award an MVP to anyone on offense. He did say the defense improved, even though it may not have looked like it with the Sooners scoring 63 points.
Jackson Jeffcoat is out for the season with another torn pectoral muscle. The rash of injuries is something that Mack can’t explain, as he compares it to other years that have been filled with hurt players.
David Ash’s injury is not as bad as some feared. UT officials say it’s only a bruise and Ash says he’ll be able to play against Baylor.
Offensive lineman Mason Walters says “David is tough” and he’s not surprised that Ash will play. Marquise Goodwin “knew he’s be OK”.
The Horns have dropped out of the top 25 in the AP poll and the Coaches’ poll, but Texas is #25 in the first BCS rankings.
Texas is now #103 in rush defense. #99 in total defense. Baylor is #2 in the country in total offense.
But the Bears are #120, which is last in the FBS.
