Texas has opened the season with three straight wins for the sixth year in a row.  The last early season loss was against Ohio State in 2006.

Things get much tougher with the nine games remaining on the regular season schedule.  Mack Brown points out that seven Big 12 teams are ranked, and nine of the ten have received votes in the rankings.  The conference went 25-3 in early season non-conference games.

Oklahoma State has the best record in the Big 12 over the past three seasons in conference games, at 20-5.  The Cowboys have 66 players from Texas on their roster.

Mack Brown’s team was in the same position a year ago and went 5-5 the rest of the season.  He says, “Last year we didn’t handle success very well.”

Oklahoma State runs a spread offense and Mack Brown says “balance is a key”.  Linebacker Jordan Hicks was hurt in the Ole Miss game and is still being looked at.

David Ash has not thrown an interception this year, but Mack Brown wants him “to be consistent.”  Ash says he’s “always been capable” of doing well on the big stage.

Oklahoma State went 12 years in a row without beating Texas, but has now won two straight.

The Longhorns are 18-4 following regular season bye weeks in the Mack Brown era.  The only losses came against A&M (’99, ’06, ’07) and Arkansas (’03).

Because of Big 12 changes, this game was played in Austin the last two years.  Texas hasn’t lost in Stillwater since 1997.
