Texas Longhorns defensive coordinator Manny Diaz was linked to the head coaching job in his hometown Miami, Florida, at Florida International University.
Tuesday evening Bruce Feldman from CBSSports.com reported that Diaz was no longer interested in the F.I.U. job and that Diaz wanted to help return Texas back on top of the college football world.
The Longhorns spoke to the media after Tuesday's Alamo Bowl practice. Senior defensive back Kenny Vaccaro said the team is ecstatic about Major Applewhite being promoted to the primary play calling offensive coordinator.
