It all began in 1981. That was the year when the University of Texas hired Deloss Dodds away from Kansas State University to become the Longhorns athletics director.

Dodds had a $4,000,000 budget to work with 32-years ago and he managed to turn that small number into a program which leads the nation in revenue generated at $163,000,000.

After months of speculation, the long time Texas athletics director officially announced he will be stepping down and retiring in August of 2014.
