(3) Texas (11-1)
vs
(10) Ohio State (10-2)
Fiesta Bowl
January 5, 2009, 7 p.m. FOX
The Longhorns are back in a BCS bowl after a two year absence, taking on Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl.
Texas finished 3rd in the BCS rankings behind Oklahoma and Florida.
Ohio State lost just two games on the year, to Penn State and USC, coincidentally the two teams that will meet in the Rose Bowl.
Fun Stats
Colt McCoy leads the nation in completion percentage (77.6%). That would shatter the old record of 73.6% by Daunte Culpepper of Central Florida in 1998.
It will be almost impossible for him to have a Fiesta Bowl bad enough to miss out on breaking the record. If he is 8/30 or 15/40 he would still set a new mark.
History
-- These two teams have only played twice, and both were memorable games that propelled the winner into the National Championship Game.
-- Texas won in Ohio State's horseshoe in 2005. The Buckeyes won in Austin in 2006.
Did you know?

Bowl Success:
Mack Brown's Longhorns have won four consecutive bowl games, one of the longest streaks in UT history.
It is the longest for consecutive seasons with bowl wins.
When Texas won five in a row in the 1940s, they missed out on bowl games a couple of years. The same thing happened in the 1960s when they won five in a row.
