Today's post-practice discussion opened with a little humor. We learned what Tom Herman's favorite karaoke song is. The 1st year UT head football coach took a moment to think about it and said, "Bust A Move", by Young MC.
The discussion evolved from a late 1980's classic hit to the the foot fracture suffered by tight end Andrew Beck.
"it's the same surgical foot he broke again", said Herman.
"We're praying and hoping that we can let the thing heal on it's own because it still has a pin in it".
Best case scenario for Andrew Beck, would be 6 to 8 weeks out if surgery isn't required.
The elephant in the room was the quarterback battle. During the last scrimmage, true freshman Sam Ehlinger was the scrimmage's offensive MVP. Should the returning starting quarterback, Shane Buechele be concerned? Tom Herman tapped the breaks on that thought and said, the sophomore "needs to cut down on the mistakes"
Herman added, "he fumbled an exchange today, I don't think he threw any interceptions which was good. It's a much more complex offense than what he's used to. You gotta read defenses, adjust protections, put people in motion, do a lot of things in our offense.I'm confident that in the next 16 days he can get there".
When asked what it meant for Sam Ehlinger being named the past scrimmages' offensive MVP, Herman simply stated that Ehlinger was the player on offense who graded out the best..
