UT swimmer Conger suspended by USA Swimming for Rio incident

Olympian and University of Texas swimmer Jack Conger has been suspended four months from USA Swimming for an incident at a Rio gas station during the 2016 Olympics.

Conger was with Ryan Lochte, Gunnar Bentz and Jimmy Feigen vandalized a gas station during the Rio Olympics. Lochte originally claimed they were robbed at gunpoint, but Rio authorities say the athletes filed a false report.

Bentz and Feigen were also suspended four months. Lochte was suspended 10 months, and USA TODAY Sports reports his punishment includes a ban from the 2017 world championships. All four swimmers will lose their monthly stipends and access to United States Olympic Committee training facilities during their suspensions. In addition, none of the four will be allowed to visit the White House with fellow U.S. Olympians.

Conger's suspension will not affect his UT status.
