University of Texas sophomore guard Sheldon McClellanhas elected to transfer following the completion of the spring semester, he confirmed Thursday.
“I want to thank everyone who supported me while at The University of Texas,” McClellan said. “I enjoyed my time at Texas. I just need a change of venue.”
McCellan played in all 34 games (15 starts) this year and ranked second on the team in scoring (13.5 ppg) and minutes (27.3 mpg), third in steals (28) and fifth in rebounding (3.9 rpg). He led the squad in free throw percentage (.833, 155-of-186).
In his two seasons in Austin, McClellan played in 68 career games (24 starts) and averaged 12.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in 26.6 minutes per contest. For his career, he converted 265-of-644 (.411) field goals, including 68-of-234 (.291) from three-point range, and 245-of-305 (.803) free throws.
