Snubbed by NIT, Horns accept invite to CBI

  The University of Texas has accepted an invitation to participate in the 2013 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) presented by Buick, the school announced Sunday evening. The Longhorns (16-17 overall, 7-11 Big 12 Conference) will travel to face Houston (19-12 overall, 7-9 Conference USA) in an Opening Round contest on Wednesday, March 20. Tip time has been set for 8 p.m. (Central) at Hofheinz Pavilion, and the contest will be televised by AXS TV.

 
The sixth annual CBI will consist of 16 teams vying for the tournament championship. Opening Round games will be played on Tuesday, March 19 and Wednesday, March 20. The Quarterfinal Round is scheduled for Monday, March 25, and Semifinal Round games will be played on Wednesday, March 27. A unique feature of the CBI is its best-of-three Championship Series, which begins on Monday, April 1 and continues on Wednesday, April 3. Should a third game be necessary, it will be played on Friday, April 5.
 
Every game of the 2013 CBI will be played on campus. Past champions of the CBI include: Pittsburgh (2012), Oregon (2011), VCU (2010), Oregon State (2009) and Tulsa (2008).
