AUSTIN, Texas -- The Big 12 Conference released its 2013 football schedule as approved by the league's Directors of Athletics on Tuesday.
The conference schedule for Texas begins Sept. 21 at home against Kansas State followed by a bye week before traveling to Iowa State on either Thursday, Oct. 3 or Saturday, Oct. 5. The Longhorns will face Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry on Oct. 12 prior to a second bye week. On Oct. 26, Texas will visit TCU for the first time as Big 12 foes before returning home to play Kansas on Nov. 2, and then visiting West Virginia for the first time in school history on Nov. 9. The Longhorns return home for two games with Oklahoma State on Nov. 16, and Texas Tech on Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 28. They will then close the regular season on the road against Baylor on Dec. 7.
The 2013 season opens for Texas with three nonconference games starting with the season opener at home against New Mexico State on Aug. 31. On Sept. 7, the Longhorns will make their second visit in school history to Provo, Utah, to face BYU with the only other trip coming in 1988. They will then host Ole Miss for the third time ever and the first since 1925 on Sept. 14 to finish the nonconference schedule.
