Here's a look at the Rangers' 2017 schedule

The Texas Rangers have plenty to look forward to as October nears this season, but fans can already look ahead to next season with the release of the 2017 schedule.

Two of the favorites to win the American League in 2016 -- the Rangers and Cleveland Indians -- will face off to open the 2017 campaign in Arlington.

Texas will play the customary 19 games against each division rival. And while 15 division games will be played in April, the Astros can take a sigh of relief in the opening month. The Rangers, who are 15-3 against Houston in 2016 with one game remaining in the season series, don’t get a crack at the ‘Stros until the first week of May.

Home series against the New York Mets (June 6-7), Cole Hamels’ former club, the Philadelphia Phillies (May 16-18), and the Miami Marlins (July 24-26) highlight interleague play for Texas next year.

They’ll also play the Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals on the road, and split a four-game series with the Padres in San Diego and Arlington (May 8-11).
