GEORGETOWN, Texas (AP) -- Katy Carmichael and Ashley Kingston each scored goals to lead Frisco Wakeland to a 2-1 win over Cedar Park Vista Ridge and the girls UIL 4A state soccer championship.

Carmichael found the back left corner of the net in the first four minutes on Saturday to put her team up 1-0. In the second half, Kingston scored in the first three minutes to put Wakeland up by two.

Vista Ridge showed life with 4:45 to play when Maegan Evans one-touched the ball in off a pass from Kennedy Brown to give the Rangers a chance. It was the first goal Wakeland had given up in the last 15 games.

Wakeland held on to win its first state title in school history.
