Dallas Kimball beats LBJ 66-54

David Kates led Dallas Kimball with 24 points as the Knights dominated the 2nd and 3rd quarters to beat LBJ in the 4A semifinals 66-54.

Cameron Brown led the Jags with 15 points. Kerry Hyder added 9.

Houston Yates rolls past Mansfield Timberview 76-51

Darius Gardner and Brandon Peters each scored 12 points and Houston Yates outscored Mansfield Timberview 27-2 in the third quarter of a 76-51 win over Mansfield Timberview on Thursday night in the Class 4A state semifinals.

Yates (33-1) started the game with its signature pressure defense and never let up, forcing Timberview (27-11) into 36 turnovers. Yates turned the miscues into 37 points and led by as many as 40 in the fourth quarter.

Yates scored its fewest points of the season but has won six postseason games by an average of 36 points.

J.J. Williams and Cedric Ivory each scored 11 points to lead Timberview, which went 16 of 39 shooting free throws.

Madison cruises past Stafford in 3A semis, 68-58

Dominique Smith scored 13 points, leading four Dallas Madison players in double figures in a 68-58 win Thursday over Stafford in the Class 3A semifinals.

Nick Moore added 11 points for Madison (32-4), which got the surge it needed to pull away late in the second quarter and never let Stafford (30-6) threaten the lead in the second half. Simeon Brinkley and Timothy Flentroy hit consecutive 3-pointers in a 10-0 run that put Madison up 33-18 going into halftime.

Maurice Wiltz scored 22 points and Phillip Pete scored 18 for Stafford.

Lubbock Estacado 77, Sour Lake Hardin-Jefferson 73, OT

Kevin Wagner scored 27 points, making four free throws in the final 35 seconds of overtime, to lift Lubbock Estacado to a 77-73 win over Sour Lake Hardin-Jefferson in Thursday's Class 3A state semifinals.

Hardin-Jefferson's Jarvis Benard scored 31 and sent the game into overtime with a driving layup with 14 seconds left. But Benard's last 3-pointer at the end of the extra period bounced hard off the back of the rim.

Wagner's last two free throws put Estacado (34-2) ahead 76-73 with 18.2 seconds left. Hardin-Jefferson committed 28 turnovers.

Roscoe pulls away from Tenaha for 64-50 1A win

Jared Villanueva scored 28 points and Roscoe pulled away from Tenaha in the second half for a 64-50 win in the Class 1A Division I semifinals Thursday.

Jacob Villanueva added 16 points and 11 rebounds for Roscoe (27-4), which used a big size advantage to outrebound Tenaha 52-32. Marlon McClure scored 24 to lead Tenaha (29-6).

Roscoe led 48-39 at the start of the fourth quarter before Jared Villanueva scored six straight points to end any hopes of a Tenaha rally.

Plains rallies past SA Stacey for 43-41 1A win

Chris Gonzales scored 14 points, rallying Plains to a 43-41 win over San Antonio Stacey in the Class 1A Division I state semifinals Friday.

Gonzales scored six in a row during a 10-0 run at the start of the fourth quarter that put Plains (32-1) up 36-34.

His layup with 2:23 to play put Plains ahead 40-38. Tim Brock, who was 0-of-12 from the floor, then made three of four free throws to seal the win.

David Clark scored 15 points for Stacey (26-6), which is located on Lackland Air Force Base. Four Stacey players have a parent serving overseas.
