AUSTIN – Anderson High School Principal Donna Houser announced today that Darin Shaw has been named the school’s Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. His duties begin Jan. 4, 2012.
Coach Shaw has been the Trojans’ Defensive Coordinator for the past five years. Before coming to Anderson, he was the Linebacker and Secondary Football Coach at Pflugerville High School. He served as the Head Basketball and Assistant Football and Track Coach at Connally High School prior to joining the Pflugerville athletic program and also spent three years as an Assistant Football Coach at Lamesa High School in Lamesa, TX. Coach Shaw has been recognized for his work as a Biology teacher at Anderson in both 2009 and 2010 when he was a finalist for the school’s Teacher of the Year Award.
“The commitments Coach Shaw has received from the current Anderson coaching staff to return for the 2012-13 school year will serve our athletic program well as we transition to a new District 15-5A alignment,” said Mrs. Houser. “Being the smallest 5A school in the district presents challenges for our athletic programs, but Coach Shaw shared an impressive plan to work with Anderson’s vertical team schools to increase the number of participants in all sports. He’ll bring enthusiasm to his position and promises to develop quality athletes who are good citizens and good representatives of their school and their athletic teams.”
“I look forward to continuing the phenomenal growth of all of our athletic programs,” said Coach Shaw.
Mrs. Houser went on to thank Coach Bill Ramzinsky for his willingness to act as Anderson’s interim Athletic Director since the spring. “Coach Ram led our students through a difficult time and inspired them to achieve at their highest levels,” she said.
Coach Ramzinsky, who has elected not to return to coaching at Anderson High School, has notified the current staff of his decision. “We wish him success in the future and thank him for his tireless work and support of Anderson athletics,” said Mrs. Houser.
