AUSTIN -- If you are planning to sell goods such as water, T-shirts, or jewelry in Austin during Formula 1 weekend, you need a permit.

People will not be allowed to sell on the sidewalks. You must be on private property and have proof of permission when you apply for that permit.

If you are hosting a gathering or party in a building or warehouse that isn't regularly occupied, the deadline to apply for a Temporary Use Permit is November 5. However, you only have one week to apply for an Amplified Sound Permit if you are planning to have a band or DJ at your event.

The City of Austin held a press conference downtown Wednesday to get the word out about code enforcement and discuss the various permits.

With events like South by Southwest, the City of Austin has had experience with large gatherings and parties.  In order to help reduce city code violations, the City has formed a Public Assembly Code Enforcement, or PACE, team.
