Cal upsets Texas 50-43

In a game similar to last year, with more last minute drama, Cal upsets #11 Texas 50-43.

Former Texas Tech quarterback Davis Webb led the Golden Bears with four touchdown passes.

With game tied 43-43 and 3:41 to play, Webb hit Chad Hansen for the go ahead touchdown.

Texas then went three and out and punted the ball back to Cal with about 90 seconds left on the clock and two timeouts.  Cal then broke through on 3rd and short and appeared to score the clinching touchdown.  But replays showed Vic Enwere dropped the ball in celebration on the one yard line.  Officials determined that because the ball was not immediately recovered by Texas, it was a dead ball and Cal kept possession.

Shane Buechele was knocked out of the game for a while in the first half after a hard hit.  He finishes 19 of 33 for 196 yards, 1 TD and 1 interception.

The running backs were the keys to the Texas offense. D'Onta Foreman with two touchdowns and 157 yards rushing.  Chris Warren added 119 yards and two touchdowns.

But UT defense couldn't stop Cal most of the game.  The Golden Bears with 507 total yards and no turnovers.

Texas now gets a week off before playing Oklahoma State on October 1st in Stillwater.
