Well, there it is: the perfect example of why Johnny Manziel is so impossible to like and impossible to ignore.  Thumbing his nose at convention and refusing to bow to conformists, Manziel nevertheless confounded and befuddled Nick Saban in record fashion on Saturday.

Never before had an Alabama team surrendered that many yards to an opposing offense.  Not in over 100 years of football.  And Saban, the greatest defensive mastermind in modern college football, the guru, was powerless to stop Manziel despite having 10 months and and open weekend prior to playing Texas A&M.

Forget the pundits, forget the naysayers, forget the doomsayers: the kid can flat out play football.  And the biggest TV audience for a CBS regular season game in 23 years (!) saw every blessed snap.  The Aggies weren't as good a team as Alabama on Saturday, but they clearly had the best player in college football.  Anyone who can't see that is clearly looking through envy-tinted glasses.
