Adrian Colbert overcame some serious odds in life

Former Longhorn defensive back overcome a rough childhood and achieved his NFL dreams.

Adversity was a constant while growing up in Wichita Falls for Adrian Colbert. "Any time I get a call from my mom, I'm like expecting the worst. If it's not one thing, it's another, ike you're brother went to jail", said Colbert.

Adrian Colbert's 1st ten years of life was a roller coaster. His father, Adrian Colbert, Sr. was a member of a gang and his son split time living at his mom's house and with his father.

But, one day while riding his bike with a friend, Colbert, Jr. said, "we were racing".
"we were racing"
That race.. changed Colbert's life, "I ran a stop sign and got hit by a car", Colbert, Jr. said.

Adrian's life nearly ended and he was in a coma for more than a week. That experience changed his dad's life as well. It  motivated him to leave the gang and make a move to Mineral Wells for a new beginning. But, his son didn't like being away from his mom and family in Wichita Falls, that was until he met the Clarke family.
He gain three new sisters and 2 new parents  who treated him like their brother and son.

The Clarkes and the Colbert supported Adrian when became a Longhorn and former UT head coach, Mack Brown in 2012. The two families were there for him when he decided to leave UT for the University of Miami (FL) as a graduate transfer prior to last season. Back in April, both families were present when Adrian received a special phone call as well. "Is this really it, is this really the call"?

Colbert received a call from the San Francisco 49ers in the 7th round of the N-F-L Draft back in April. An elated Adrian Colbert, Jr., described what it was like on the receiving end, "I was like yeah, I'm about to become a 49er, let's go".

A dream achieved. A dream celebrated after a father and son took a path to power through a life of adversity together.
