AUSTIN -- Friday, University of Texas Offensive Coordinator Major Applewhite admitted to an inappropriate relationship with an adult student.
KVUE spoke with students about the incident that happened back in 2009.
Even those who said they do not pay attention to football said the actions of a football coach do reflect on the entire university.
The one-time incident took place during the 2009 Fiesta Bowl.
At that time, Applewhite was the running backs coach.
He is currently Offensive Coordinator.
In a statement, Applewhite said he took "full responsibility for his actions and the matter was resolved four years ago with the university".
The university froze Applewhite's salary for 2009 because of the incident.
He was also required to see a counselor.
UT Athletic Director Deloss Dodds said in a statement the athletic department has high standards for behavior, and that he believes the appropriate discipline was taken in this case.
