In 1981, Austin and the Frank Erwin Special Events Center hosted the 1st and 2nd round N.C.A.A. Tournament game for the 1st time.
Arkansas' U.S. Reed shocked the nation by draining a buzzer beating shot which knocked out the defending national champion Louisiville Cardinals.
That shot was a historic one. The shot which is associated with Austin, TX and college basketball history.
