Tyler Ellis was experiencing a productive  football season until one play nearly ended his senior year as an athlete at Manor High School.

Ellis made a reception in week-7 vs East View and was on the receiving end of a hit which damaged one of his kidneys.

Ellis wasn't aware of how severe the injury was until the following Monday morning when he felt like he was stabbed.

His mother took him to a local hospital. The 1st doctor told Ellis he would not be able to participate in any sports for 6-months. He and his mother received a 2nd opinion which was music to Tyler's ears. He was told the injury was severe, but he would only miss 6-weeks.

Ellis missed the remainder of the football season, but was able to play for the Mustangs varsity basketball team in late November.
