AUSTIN -- Muhammad Ali is known globally as one of the greatest, if not the best in the sports of boxing. Austin resident Leandre Ali Bickely is a champion just like that other Ali.
Bickley, a native of Houston, moved to Austin in August of 2012 to attend the University of Texas, but his road to Austin was extremely painful, challenging, and emotional.
The 24-year-old Golden Glove Boxer was diagnosed with Lupus, high blood pressure, diabetes, and underwent a kidney transplant during the 6-years leading to the big move from Houston to Austin.
Bickley prefers to be called Ali-his middle name. He has already earned the title as a Registered Nurse, completing the educational requirements, but will receive his bachelor's degree from U.T. in May of 2013.
