It was a dream a come true for Jake Hubenak, the life long Aggie from Georgetown. Hubenak recalls making his 1st ever experience as the starting quarterback for Texas A&M at Kyle Field last Saturday,"I remember walking down the tunnel before the game, said a little prayer to myself and thanked God for the opportunity. I remember as a little kid coming to all the games with and number 10 Hubenak jersey on and to be able to live it out was a cool experience".
A cool experience for Hubenak, who started two previous games for Texas A&M away from Kyle Field.
Last Saturday, the Georgetown Eagle for life was cool as a cucumber in his 1st ever start at Kyle Field. In particular the 1st half. Hubenak led Texas A&M to a 21-6 lead.
The 2nd half was a different story. Ole Miss erased a 15-point deficit and beat Texas A&M, 29-28.
"I don't think I did a good enough job in the 2nd half, missed a couple of throws, I put that on me", Hubenak said after the loss.
The pride of Georgetown produced some nice stats in the loss. 16 completions for 213 yards and tossed a pair of touchdowns in the loss. That was the 3rd loss in the past four games for the Aggies. That is the only stat that matters to Hubenak. "The win is way more important than what my stats are, if we don't win I could care less", said Hubenak.
Hubenak's 3rd career start as Texas A&M quarterback will be against UT-San Antonio will be a non-conference game on Saturday. A 3rd start may be a charm for Jake, who hopes to pick up his 1st win as the Aggies' starting quarterback.
