Kim shoots course-record 62 for two-stroke lead over Tiger at AT&T National
Anthony Kim is regaining a lot of his strength and a little of his swagger. He can only hope his record start Thursday at the AT&T National will allow him to get rid of some frustration built up from a year of not winning.

Kenny Perry has set a goal of winning 20 times before he leaves the PGA Tour. The 48-year-old earned No. 14 on Sunday at the Travelers Championship, shooting a 63 to finish with a tournament-record 258, three strokes better than Paul Goydos and David Toms, two other 40-something golfers.

On Thursday, Katy Jarochowicz, a mini-tour player from Sydney, Australia, shot 69-70 to win the Texas Women's Open by one stroke. At 1-under 139, she was the only player below par at Eastern Hills Country Club.

Mansfield boy wins Junior Golf Classic
After the first two days of play at the Elbit Systems of America Junior Golf Classic, Mansfield's Gregory Yates sat in ninth place in the boys division. But Thursday, Yates made eight birdies to shoot a 7-under 65 on his way to a one-shot win over Alejandro Villasana, who came from Mexico to play in the tournament.

US Open play suspended because of darkness

The final round of the U.S. Open has been suspended, and not a moment too soon for Ricky Barnes. Barnes had a one-shot lead over Lucas Glover after 54 holes in the rain-plagued championship, but it didn't last long. Teeing off in the fourth round Sunday evening, Barnes made bogey on the first hole, then hit his tee shot into gnarly rough on No. 2. They were tied at 7-under par, still five shots clear of everyone else.

Ricky Barnes, who took six years to reach the big leagues, is now in the record book with the lowest 36-hole score in the 109 years of the U.S. Open. He knocked in a 45-foot birdie putt on his 17th hole Saturday, completed a bogey-free 65 in his second round and reached the tournament's halfway point at 8-under 132.

Tiger Woods began his U.S. Open title defense Thursday on soggy Bethpage Black by having his caddie hold an umbrella until it was time to hit his opening drive. He didn't finish seven holes before Bethpage was too soaked to continue and play was suspended.

Tuan Nguyen was on a mission. Nguyen, from Murphy, Texas, had honed his game on daily fee golf courses. Now, he was determined to play one of the most famous and demanding - Bethpage State Park's Black course in Farmingdale, N.Y. It's the site of this week's U.S. Open.

James Driscoll had played only six times when he began the Texas Swing at the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio. He had conditional status on the PGA Tour – only $23,000 in earnings from two cuts made – and had broken 70 just once.
