High Five: Texas A&M-Oklahoma State

Here are five significant wins for Texas A&M and five for Oklahoma State in their rivalry that dates back to 1913. Texas A&M leads the series 17-6. The two teams meet 6:05 p.m. Saturday in Stillwater, Okla.

Texas A&M wins

Oct. 21, 2006, Aggies 34, Cowboys 33 (OT), in Stillwater: Texas A&M scored on a 2-yard pass from Stephen McGee to Joey Thomas with three seconds left to force overtime. But Red Bryant proved to be the hero, blocking the Cowboys' extra-point attempt in overtime to help No. 23 Texas A&M improve to 7-1.

Nov. 1, 1997, Aggies 28, Cowboys 25 (OT), in College Station: Branndon Stewart spurred No. 25 Texas A&M to its first overtime, leading two long scoring drives in the final nine minutes. D'Andre Hardeman' 6-yard touchdown run in overtime gave Texas A&M a share of Oklahoma State's lead in the Big 12 South.

Nov. 4, 2000, Aggies 21, Cowboys 16, in Stillwater: No. 24 Texas A&M entered the game 6-2 and in the thick of the Big 12 hunt, but the Cowboys, winless in the Big 12, were on the Aggies' 15 with 43 seconds left. Oklahoma State's fourth-down shot at the end zone was caught out of bounds, giving Texas A&M the win.

Oct. 6, 2007, Aggies 24, Cowboys 23, in College Station: Oklahoma State's Adarius Bowman caught two touchdown passes in the game's first eight minutes to give the Cowboys a 17-0 lead at halftime. But the Aggies turned to Jorvorskie Lane, who turned the game around with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to help Texas A&M rally.

Oct. 15, 2005, Aggies 63, Cowboys 23, College Station: Helped by seven Oklahoma State turnovers, quarterback Reggie McNeal and the Aggies outscored the Cowboys 35-6 in the second half. McNeal went 18-for-26 for 263 yards and three touchdown passes and rushed for 150 yards and a score.

Oklahoma State wins

Sept. 24, 1988, Cowboys 52, Aggies 15, in Stillwater: The second of back-to-back 10-win seasons for Oklahoma State included this rout of defending Southwest Conference champion Texas A&M. Barry Sanders rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns and had a punt return for a touchdown on the way to a Heisman Trophy.

Nov. 2, 2002, Cowboys 28, Aggies 23, in Stillwater: Oklahoma State's first Big 12 win over Texas A&M in seven tries wasn't easy. The Cowboys allowed the Aggies to convert on a 4th-and-1 on the Oklahoma State 32-yard line down 28-23. But Vernon Grant picked off Texas A&M's Dustin Long on the next play with 1:10 left.

Oct. 25, 2003, Cowboys 38, Aggies 10, College Station: In a battle of two talented rushers, Tatum Bell was at the top of his game. Bell rushed 29 times for 196 yards and three touchdowns, as the Cowboys took a 31-0 lead before Texas A&M could respond. Courtney Lewis' 171-yard rushing day went for naught.

Sept. 24, 1983, Cowboys 34, Aggies 15, in College Station: With Texas A&M and Oklahoma State combining for 10 turnovers and 20 penalties, this wasn't a thing of beauty. But Oklahoma State sacked Texas A&M quarterbacks six times, and Shawn Jones rushed for 203 yards in the Cowboys' first win in College Station.

Sept. 25, 1954, Cowboys 14, Aggies 6, in Dallas: Oklahoma State took advantage of a young Texas A&M team, rushing for 280 yards and holding the Aggies without a touchdown for the first three quarters. Texas A&M completed only seven passes, with three of them ending up in the hands of the Cowboys.
