Senior defensive end Michael Bennett has resurrected his career after he was declared academically ineligible for last season's Alamo Bowl.

Bennett tackled running back Mike Goodson for a safety in a scrimmage, drawing praise from coach Mike Sherman.

"I'm counting on Michael Bennett big-time," Sherman said. "People have X-ed him out, but he's fought back. He dug his own hole, but he's climbing out. I think he's going to have a heck of a season."
