On Wednesday it became official:  a Central Austin man’s next energy bill will be zero, thanks to the solar panels on his home.

Don Iden says in the last month the panels generated more electricity than he used, so he actually gave power back to the Austin grid.

The city’s Solar Rebate program covered most of the cost of installing Iden’s solar system.
