Anywhere you go in Austin, you see the future of a cleaner city -- whether it's the landscaping at city hall, which has a water garden created entirely out of the condensations from the building's air conditioning units, to AMD Technologies' massive roof complex, which doubles as a rainwater harvesting system.

"I think it's really exciting that we see a lot of these businesses, larger corporations that are going green in Austin," said Daniel Perry.

Perry is the owner of a website called Greengrover.com, which shares new and different ways businesses are doing their part to clean up the environment.

"I mean you see some things that are very obvious, like Starbucks when they have a green roof on or solar panels on, that's something that you see," he said.

One business has created reserved parking spaces for fuel-efficient vehicles in the front row of their store. While some people may think it's an inconvenience, others think it's a great idea.

Paul Smith bought his new car to save on gas. But now has another reason to be excited.

"This is more of an incentive to drive my fuel efficient car," he said.

That's not the only way the Office Depot on Anderson Lane is trying to go green.

"Some things that are in the work right here are getting an electrical outlet to charge the electric cars when they come up here. So you look at our car stoppers here. They are made from recycled tires, everything just really going towards the environment," said Adrian Hernandez, Office Depot assistant manager.

It's little changes business and individuals are making that is changing the future.

"We have all these concerns about global warming and so everything we can do is helpful," Smith said.
