Bastrop Police Chief David Board is facing charges for DWI.
According to the Travis County Sheriff's Office, Austin police arrested Chief Board Monday night around 9:45pm. Court documents show he was pulled over at Technicenter and Ed Bluestein, U.S. 183.
Board was booked at the Travis County Jail. Sheriff's officials say he bonded out on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond by Tuesday morning.
According to KVUE's exclusive partner, the Austin-American Statesman, a Bastrop City Spokesperson released a statement that they met with Chief Board Tuesday morning following his release to discuss his future with the City of Bastrop. Chief Board has been with the department since July 1986. He leads a department of about 25 police and civilian employees. The city spokesperson said they will take "immediate action" regarding Chief Board's arrest.
Assistant Chief Matt Wagner is expected to take over Board's duties until further notice.
