What is it? a 50-foot garden hose that shrinks so it's light and easy to handle

What does it claim? that it will fit in the palm of your hand.  When you turn on the water, and it becomes a full-size hose.

Who tested it?  Norfolk resident and busy dad David Callaham

What are the instructions? They're pretty simple. After removing the Pocket Hose from the packaging, find the "inlet" and "outlet" of the hose.  The "outlet" is the end of the hose with the on/off lever attached.  Make sure the ON/OFF lever of the Pocket Hose is set to "OFF."

If you have a spray nozzle, you can attach it to the outlet of the Pocket Hose.  But if a nozzle is not being used and the lever is not in the OFF position, the hose will not expand properly.

Attach the Pocket Hose inlet to the water supply at your house and then turn the water on.  Then set the ON/OFF lever to "ON."

When you're done, turn off the water supply and drain the hose completely.  As you're doing that, the Pocket Hose will begin shrinking to its original size.  Once the hose is completely empty of water, put the ON/OFF lever to the "OFF" position.  Disconnect  the nozzle if you used one. That will make the hose ready for the next use.

Did it work? Callaham said that it did do what it promised, so in that sense it worked. But he said 50-feet is not long enough to water most yards.  He also didn't like the fact that he had to disconnect the hose after every use and put it away so that it will stay in good condition.  What he did like was how lightweight the Pocket Hose was to carry around.

Cost/Availability? You can purchase the Pocket Hose at Target for $19.99.
