News and Operations Manager
I grew up in Wimberley, Texas and love the Hill Country.
Being a devoted fan of classic movies and television, I was destined for the Radio-TV-Film program at the University of Texas at Austin. How many times have you seen "Citizen Kane?" In the critical studies track, we watched it again and again. Oh, Rosebud.
My first job was in studio production at KTBC-TV. Their news internship taught me how to produce a newscast, which led to a job at KBTX in Bryan-College Station.
In 1994, I returned home to Central Texas to produce newscasts at KVUE. The Internet got really popular, and I joined the web team in 2003. After three years as the web producer, I was promoted to News and Operations Manager (Managing Editor and then some.)
Working on the web is challenging and rewarding. The news never stops, and overseeing KVUE.com is a wonderful creative outlet. Technology changes keep my job forever moving forward; there is always something new to learn. My work has been honored with awards from the Associated Press, the Radio and Television News Directors Association, and the Lone Star Emmys.
I enjoy volunteering with nonprofit organizations. My longtime stints included the Victory Tutorial program and Meals on Wheels and More. I currently serve on the Board of Trustees of St. Stephen's Episcopal School.
In 2015 I will graduate with a Masters in Public and Nonprofit Administration from Metropolitan State University.
