TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) — One person is dead and 19 others have been hurt in an earthquake that struck central Taiwan.
The quake damaged buildings on the island. In the capital, Taipei, buildings swayed. And parts of Taiwan's high-speed rail line were suspended from service to be inspected for damage.
Emergency officials say a 72-year-old woman died when a temple wall collapsed.
Earthquakes frequently rattle Taiwan, but most are minor and cause little or no damage.
