I-35 reopens in South Austin after crash

AUSTIN - A crash involving three 18-wheelers closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 in Austin for several hours Tuesday afternoon, police said.

APD said the crash was along the 2300 block of South I-35, which is near the Oltorf exit. Police added the lanes would be shut down for an “extended period of time.” TxDOT reported a spill associated with the crash, and motorists are being detoured to the access road at Oltorf Street, exit 232A. Police provided an update at 2:45 p.m. on Twitter stating the northbound lanes would be closed an additional 2-3 hours to clean up the scene.

Police said that the road was re-opened around 5:50 p.m.
