New information released by the Texas Department of Transportation have Interstate 35 between U.S. 290 and SH 71 in Austin as the second-most congested road in the state.
TxDOT data valid Aug. 31 shows I-610 between I-10/U.S. 90 and I-69/U.S. 59 in Houston as the most-congested road. The data shows the Harris County stretch with the annual hours of delay per mile at 1.11 million, edging out I-35’s 1.09 million.
I-35 through downtown Austin is at the top of the Texas A&M Transportation Institute’s 2015 study of the most congested roadways in Texas.
