AUSTIN - Crews have pulled a car from Lady Bird Lake after it went into the water near the Lamar Boulevard Bridge on Friday morning.
Austin police said they were called to the lake near West Cesar Chavez and B.R. Reynolds Drive around 4:25 a.m. Friday. APD says the driver – only described as a 45-year-old man – drove a sedan into the lake, and that the car is mostly submerged. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle and police said he passed a sobriety test.
As of 6:15 a.m. Friday, police did not have word on what caused the driver to go off the road. The city tweeted at 7:30 a.m. that the road had reopened to traffic.
