Border states react to Obama's choice for homeland security

President-elect Obama's choice for homeland security secretary has first hand knowledge of the problems on the border. There's hope her experience will benefit the region.

1:00:22 and to ensure we work hand in hand with state and local governments to share information, secure our borders and keep our country safe," said Janet Napolitano, governor of Arizona.
As Napolitano supported Arizona's tough employer sanctions law and opposed building the controversial border fence. The barrier faces a backlash in Texas.
"Being from Arizona she understands trying to build a wall that extends from San Diego to Brownsville is a big, big waste of taxpayer money," said John Cook, El Paso mayor.
Residents along the border believe the new homeland security secretary understands the dual need to protect the country while also promoting efficient trade and travel.
Cross border trade will likely be on the agenda of another border governor turned cabinet member.
President-elect Obama is expected to name New Mexico's Bill Richardson secretary of commerce.
