When going 'bridezilla' is probably OK

Planning a wedding is stressful enough, but it's even worse when something goes wrong.

Two brides said they don't have dresses for their bridesmaids, and they ordered them from the same store.

With just one week go to, bride-to-be Lauren Middleton is still missing two bridesmaid dresses from Gia & Co.

"Everyone called in, payed over the phone credit card -- paid in full," she said.

"I called them over and over, just trying to talk to them," her fiance Chad Beckemeyer said.

But the Houston couple said they've heard story after story.

"Oh, 'it's in our warehouse,' 'we have the dresses, but they came in teal not the right color,'" Middleton said. "And now I think that's a complete lie."

Middleton was also told to go to the store at Memorial City Mall where she bought the dress. But when she got there, it had closed down, just one month before her wedding.

So her bridesmaids did what good bridesmaids do -- buy new dresses.

"This is the new one from David's Bridal," said

"It's hard for anyone to buy two dresses for a bridesmaid dress," bridesmaid Casey Mallams said. "But for the most part it was more along the lines of, it wasn't Lauren's fault."

But Lauren isn't the only one. Megan Berner is also waiting for a bridesmaid dress from Gia & Co.

"We went to the mall, and the store was closed," she said.

11 News called Gia & Co., but our calls went unanswered. Lauren had this advice for others waiting for dresses.

"Don't wait," Beckemeyer said. "Don't hold your breath -- go get another bridesmaid dress."

Lauren is glad she did.

"It was a good reminder that bridesmaid dresses don't make us married," Middleton said.

Both women are contemplating taking the company to court if they cannot straighten out their situations with the bridal store.

Gia & Co. has an unsatisfactory record with the Better Business Bureau due to unanswered complaints.
