Tropical Storm Gamma is born

One of the busiest hurricane seasons in recent memory, just got a little busier. Tropical Depression No. 27 regenerated and at 3 p.m. was upgraded to Tropical Storm Gamma. KHOU-TV chief meteorologist Dr. Neil Frank said Thursday evening that he did not expect the system to threaten the Texas Gulf Coast. NWS Tropical Storm Gamma The government of Belize has issued a tropical storm warning for the entire coast of Belize. The government of Honduras has also issued a tropical storm warning for the bay islands of Honduras. Mexico has issued a tropical storm watch for the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula from the Belize-Mexico border northward to Punta Allen. Gamma is moving erratically toward the west-northwest near 5 mph. An Air Force reserve hurricane hunter aircraft indicated that maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph.
