Austin police are investigating a deadly traffic accident in east Austin.

Officers responded to a collision at Springdale and East Seventh around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police believe a white Chevrolet Impala ran a red light at the intersection, striking a silver Nissan Sentra.

Officers say several passengers from both vehicles fled the scene on foot.

A Hispanic male passenger of the Nissan sustained life-threatening injuries.       

Austin-Travis County EMS took him to Brackenridge hospital where he later died.
