An Austin police officer was sent to the hospital with minor injuries Wednesday morning after his motorcycle crashed on Interstate 35, officials said.

The accident happened near Highway 183. The motorcycle officer hit an SUV. He had cuts on his face and was taken to Brackenridge Hospital to be checked for internal injuries.

There were no reports of other injuries.

Traffic was backed up to Braker Lane until the accident was cleared.
