Construction worker rescued after fall
03:00 PM CDT on Monday, October 1, 2007
A construction worker was rescued and rushed to the hospital Monday after falling about 30 feet.
It happened at a condominium construction site at 17th and Lavaca in downtown Austin Monday afternoon.
Officials say the worker fell 25 to 30 feet, hit a partitioned wall and landed in a narrow opening.
"He went over backwards and hit the partition wall we have between the cement wall, where we're pouring more cement, and he fell backwards onto that and then bounced off and hit the pavement down below," said Walt Chapman, construction worker. "We had 15 guys calling 911, and they responded real good... he was pretty messed up."
