04:07 PM CDT on Friday, August 17, 2007
Shelter dogs quarantined after being exposed to a rabid bat were examined Friday were given a clean bill of health.
The 16 dogs were quarantined for 90 days by the Austin Humane Society when the bat was found in their area in May.
Veterinarians from the Austin Humane Society and the Austin Rabies Authority conducted the examinations.
All of the dogs became available for adoption Friday.
One Austin man who helped to quarantine the dogs took one of them home -- an Australian cattle dog named Chloe. He says the dogs are looking for a good home.
"All of the dogs here that have been quaratined are amazingly wonderful dogs. They are little angels. They need a good home. They're just dying to have a home forever," said Richard Corsi.
Call 646-PETS if you'd like to adopt a dog from the Austin Humane Society.
