Cross-dressing robber suspect dons new disguise
08:23 AM CDT on Thursday, August 16, 2007
ARLINGTON - Authorities are beginning to suspect that a serial bank robber in Arlington may believe himself to be a master of disguise.
Arlington police said a suspect in three Arlington bank robberies, including one that occurred Wednesday, has donned everything from a woman's wig and purse to a green reflective vest in an attempt to hide his identity.
At about 10:10 a.m. on Wednesday, the suspect walked into a Wachovia Bank in the 5600 block of Green Oaks Boulevard S.W. wearing a white bandana around his neck, a baseball cap on his head and dressed in a neon green reflective vest and dark pants. He then demanded money while pointing a handgun at the teller and left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police said they believe the suspect wore the bandana around his neck to cover a tattoo that was seen on the suspect on robberies that took place on July 5 and July 19.
While in previous robberies the suspect appeared to be a cross-dresser, police said it appeared he dropped the purse and wig in exchange for a reflective vest to look like a road worker.
Anyone with information on the suspect or robberies is asked to call Safe City Commission Crime Stopper at (817) 469-TIPS.
