Lance Armstrong says he'll “definitely" race in the Tour de France again.
Coming off of his sixth-straight Tour win, Armstrong was honored with a
parade in his adopted hometown tonight. The parade began at 7:30 p.m.
and was followed by a concert in front of the Capitol by Robert Earl
Keen and the Steve Miller Band.
Armstrong again suggested that he could focus on other races in 2005. He
did not say if his next Tour de France would be next year or 2006. He
also suggested that he may not ride beyond 2006.
The 32-year-old says he thinks he has "another year or two" in him.
These were his first public comments in the United States since his July
victory in France.
He was dressed in slacks and a black T-shirt emblazoned with his
"Livestrong" motto and rode a mountain bike in the parade through
downtown.
Many fans arrived hours early in the 89-degree heat to claim prime
parade-watching real estate along Congress Avenue, the main downtown
drag.
Mayor Will Wynn declared this Wear Yellow in Austin Day. He showed up
wearing a custom-made yellow shirt adorned with patches from Austin city
departments.
"It's nothing but fun, a once in a lifetime opportunity. This really is
an event people will remember, their kids will remember," Mayor Wynn
said.
